Monday Mindfulness Minute: Belly Breath

Step 1: Pause where you are and take a couple of natural breaths. Eyes can be half closed or closed.

Step 2: Place your hands on your belly. As you inhale through the nose, feel your belly expand. As you exhale through the nose, feel the belly fall and lungs empty completely.

Step 3: Notice the rhythm of the breath and begin to focus on the natural pause between the exhale and inhale.

Step 4: After a few more rounds, remove your hands from your belly and let your breath be natural. Notice any sensations you feel.

By simply breathing in and out through our nose we are accessing the parasympathetic nervous system which automatically helps to decrease our stress hormones. Bring this awareness into your day.
