Mindfulness Booster: Compassion

Our intention for this week centers around compassion. Compassion is the natural state of the heart and mind, which is motivated by cherishing ourselves other living beings and wishes to release them from their suffering.

The guided meditation below is a nurturing practice to tap into when you are feeling overwhelmed or it feels as if things are starting to get a little chaotic, especially since Mercury is headed into retrograde starting April 28-May 22 (you can check out more about Mercury in Retrograde here).

I’ve found this practice to create profound shift for myself and others as a way to increasing connectedness and improving communication. Adding a booster of compassion will do yourself and those around you some good. Have a great week!

Guided Meditation: Lovingkindness

Enjoy this 12:34 minute guided meditation with background music. The Lovingkindness Meditation is a simple, heart-centered meditation technique with roots in Buddhism, sometimes called Metta. Practiced around the world, Metta cultivates compassion for one’s self and others.

In this meditation practice, you gather your attention to focus on a specific compassionate series of phrases that you repeat silently. As we do this, our heart sends signals to the brain that changes the entire nervous system, reduces stress hormones, enhances our immune system, and increases our ability to be present with others.

ps. If you don’t have time to partake in the full guided meditation, you can simply offer loving kindness in the moment to yourself or others by silently repeating a series of phrases such as: May you/I be happy. May you/I be free from suffering. May you/I know joy and peace.
